In April 2026, TES Foundation resumed its field activities with a mission focused on retinal care and the continuation of its surgical teaching program.
During this mission, 35 patients with confirmed retinal pathologies were consulted and thoroughly examined. Based on these evaluations, 7 vitrectomy procedures were planned, of which 5 were successfully performed by Roland Barbey under the supervision of the TES Foundation President, further strengthening local surgical capacity.
A key objective of this mission was also to define the operational program for the year ahead. In parallel, Pierre Witz conducted a comprehensive inventory of the medical equipment required for the coming year, enabling better planning and lifecycle management of critical devices.
The local medical team—Tania Gopal and Madahaui Senaratne—has now reached full autonomy in the indication and administration of intravitreal Avastin injections, marking an important milestone in the development of sustainable retinal care.
