The OCT – Optical Coherence Tomography – is used for thorough retinal examination for patients suffering from vitreo-retinal pathologies due to diabetes complications. Daily, about 10 examinations are performed, mainly by one of the six post-graduate MHOs currently completing their training. Results are then analysed and discussed with the Moka Eye Hospital medical specialists in order to decide on the appropriate treatment for each patient.

The OCT was donated in January 2011 by T.E.S. Foundation, the Lions Club of Port Louis and major Mauritian companies (see previous news: “OCT donation ceremony at Moka Eye Hospital”).
