Victoria Hospital, Mahé – January 2026

As part of TES Foundation’s January 2026 mission to Seychelles, Dr. Madahaui Senatetne participated in an intensive hands-on introduction to modern phacoemulsification techniques under the direct mentorship of the President of the TES Foundation.

Phacoemulsification represents the gold standard in modern cataract surgery. This advanced microsurgical technique allows for smaller incisions, faster recovery, and improved visual outcomes for patients. Through close supervision and step-by-step guidance in the operating theatre, Dr. Senatetne gained practical experience in machine handling, fluidics control, nucleus management, and intraocular lens implantation.

TES Foundation’s training model focuses on real surgica l exposure combined with structured teaching, ensuring that knowledge transfer is both practical and sustainable. By empowering local surgeons with advanced skills, we are strengthening the long-term capacity of ophthalmic services in Seychelles.

This collaboration reflects our mission: not only to operate, but to teach — building independence, expertise, and excellence in eye care for the future.
