In December, Dr Ana Alzaga and Dr Nadia Hesham, both from Weill Cornell Medical School, New York,  realized 25 corneal grafts out of which 3  were done at Souillac Hospital. It is the first time that T.E.S.Foundation’s team works in this  hospital, which is situated in the South of Mauritius. A brand new ophthalmologic center has been opened early 2015. Souillac Hospital is also the national center of screening of diabetes.

For his part, Pr Tabatabay, Geneva, assessed 86 patients and carried out 10 vitro-retinal surgeries and one cataract surgery at the Subramania Bharati Eye Hospital, Moka.

Note that Dr Alzaga has brought 16 corneas from the Eye Bank for Sight Restauration, New York. The other corneas were received from the Lion’s Club of Saint-Louis. These generous donations, for which we are very grateful,  are worth more than 45’000 $.

T.E.S. Foundation’s next mission will take place in May 2016.
